Starry-Eyed Keepers

Rating System on Letterboxd (2021)

Have you heard the rumors? The place where they glorify screens and ache their hearts with talking pictures, they give them stars to a favorable manner? Have I told you that a simple misconception such as a 3.5 average film should not thwart whatever your heart holds? I truly believe that cinema is a metamorphosis that we experience on our own. Here is my own rating system, I fairly made to organize my cluttered cinephilia thoughts. Have I defied you, at least at the gain of me!

As for documentaries, they're also rated in a particular manner! Since documentaries are made through factual stories, I'm rating them based on the given topic and its execution.

  1. ½ - a propaganda machine

  2. ★ - sensationalized, unbearable content, manipulative execution

  3. ★½ - supposed to be a moving documentation, but failed to execute

  4. ★★ - potentially-ruined topic with its bland and lazy execution

  7. ★★★½ - repetitive content, but managed to be a unique and thrilling experience

  8. ★★★★ - unique topic, entertained enough

  9. ★★★★½ - interesting, eye-opening, recommendable

  10. ★★★★★ - a shattering breakthrough documentary that can spark discourses

  11. I won't be liking any documentaries.

Starting from now, I only rate short films with a heart or with none. Only those with an expected like contributes to the fair share of my agony, well then, welcome to the club. If not, that's the best of its effort!

For live-action anthology series, I rate each episode with the same rating system as live-action films. For animated anthology series, I rate each episode with the same rating system as animated films. For limited series, I rate them in general consideration as for either live-action or animated films. For long-term series, check out my TVTime on my Letterboxd profile!
